PT100 - Oporto Centenarian Study

As the first Portuguese population-based study on centenarians, the PT100 aims to describe the characteristics of those individuals who have reached 100 years old, and enrich the available knowledge on the exceptional longevity phenomenon in Portugal. By comprehensively portraying their current living situation, physical health, care needs, psychological strengths and cognitive functioning, the study aims to increase the available information on the challenges of living beyond 100 years old. The project is integrated in an international network of centenarian studies (ICC - International Centenarian Consortium) and currently includes several satellite projects: the PT100 Beira Interior Centenarian Study, the PT100 Offspring (with a focus on intergenerational family relations and caregiving), and the PT100 Service Utilization (focusing on the use of care services in the context of geriatric morbidity).
